Plasma Burns and Bullet Shells
-Chapter 4
Nov. 20, 2552
Sgt. Fitzgerald's mission clock:
0200: Munich, Germany

The beaten pelican, Bravo 423, wobbled through the air on its last strength. Fitzgerald stared at the floor, dwelling on Bustrum's death, and the other marines lost. Brant felt his thoughts and gave him a pat on his shoulder. Tyrell looked over and forced a smile. "We're landing!" Davidson called back. "Roger ell-tee!" Michael Brant replied. 423 landed unloading seven exhausted marines. Delta base was essential to the UNSC in Germany. If the covenant captured it, the UNSC would loose the greatly needed supplies. Tyrell escorted a wounded soldier to the infirmary and was lead to his quarters. Tyrell stumbled onto his bed and fell asleep.

'Ulmammee was greatly angered by his defeat, and the prophets weren't too giddy about it either. 'Ulmammee's black armor gleamed as he walked down the hall of the base they had wrenched from the humans' hands. Tama walked into a training room to see two Elites dueling with plasma swords and five others shooting down targets with the new covenant extended range plasma sniper rifle. Tama cleared his throat causing all of the Elites to stand at rigid attention. "Start combat simulations." Tama barked to a technician in the observation control center. The Elite nodded and the simulations began. "I want all of you to challenge red mode on simulations beginning now for the next 24 units, we move in at 36 units." 'Ulmammee ordered anger growing in his voice. "Sir!" the Elites replied and began. 'Danattee jogged to him. "Excellency, my troops are training and choosing their squads for the strike." The black armored Elite stated. "Good." Tama answered. 'Danattee's new armor showed his promotion to Combat Commander. "Oh and congratulations Commander." Tama pointed out. "Thank you Excellency." He responded.

Tyrell awoke after his much needed sleep, walking for the mess hall. He sat down next to Scott and his friend Ryan. Fitzgerald thought of his brother who had died on the beachheads in the attempts to take back Germany completely. Earth was fighting for survival and the few thousand marines were attacking with unbelievable determination, for their families, friends and home. Tyrell grabbed a sandwich and sat. He talked with his marines and walked over to Davidson to question the next mission. Conner offered him a coffee and Tyrell accepted it sipping the hot drink. "So what's up sir?" he asked. "General Black hasn't exactly found a strategy to take that primary covenant base." Davidson said, "And Intel reports that they developed the sniper rifle there, so if we take that base we would have a huge supply of covie technology... and Germany would be under human, UNSC control." Fitzgerald nodded, a bit confused, and walked over to several marines playing cards and joined in on the game.

'Ulmammee pushed the engines of the Ghost, sending it ahead of the other transports and Ghosts. He had two plasma pistols slammed into their holsters and a plasma rifle with a plasma saber. Today was the day. Tama was determined to take the humans off this country. Two Lucifer dropships pasted overhead. Tama grinned with pride, he had only thought to fight until every human fell. Tama released a battle cry and headed for the humans.

Sirens began sounding in a shrill scream and marines were equipping armor and various weapons. Fourteen marines moved in chain guns and stationed them along the buildings. Several Skyhawk fighters lifted off and prepared for action. Tyrell slapped a fresh clip into his MA5B and grabbed a few extra magazines. Davidson sat by him slamming shell after shell into his shotgun. Tyrell took dual M9D pistols and a combat knife. Davidson did the same and both of them ran to their stations. To no surprise of Fitzgerald, Scott had manned one of the chain guns and Ryan stood nearby with his AR ready. Jones also was stationed close with eight other snipers. Jones had never been the same after Carlson's death. It neared midnight and the rain began falling when great hordes of covenant troops made their appearance. Several warthogs loaded up marines and drove towards what covenant had made it in. Davidson pulled up a 'hog with a rocket launcher mounted in place of the chain gun. Ryan jumped in the gunners spot and another marine took passenger. The warthog growled to life and took off. Fitzgerald rested his assault rifle against his shoulder and took aim at the exploding highway blast door. The door was forced open and the siege began. Dropships flew in unloading human and covenant forces. "Here we go again!" Tyrell yelled as he and his marines squeezed their triggers.
