On November 16, 1999, Incite gameXpress released a screenshot of a Halo marine holding a flamethrower. What became far more interesting, though, were the blurry words in the bottom left corner of the shot. "camera" was clearly readable... was this a hint to the viewing system in Halo? The analysis started pouring in.
Sanctorum sent us this graphic showing what he can make out from the text.
Brian quickly suggested that "I think Sanctorum missed some letters in his picture of the flamethrower. The second word makes much more sense as "orbiting".

I thought that you may be interested in my findings regarding the camera views that appear in the GSX Image4.jpg picture. After running the GSX Image4.jpg through some color adjustment and constrast filters in Photoshop, I came up with the following: by assuming that the character widths would be approximately equal, I came up with the following (question marks are unknown characters): first person camera ???o?ing camera ?????? camera Note that the 'o' in ???o?ing camera could also be an 'a' or other round letter. Also note that I'm fairly confident that the last camera view is composed of six letters. My initial guess as to what it *could* really be: first person camera rotating camera action camera (no clue here, but it would be cool if there was an automated 'action' cam like Flacon 4 and Myth/Myth II!) I've included the portion of the image (already filtered) so that you can see for yourself, if you'd like. regards, Patrick Gierke (a.k.a. Electric_Sheep)

I use one of them in an OpenGL title I'm working on now. I'll see if I can nut out what the last one is... all the best, Dafydd Williams ATMOS Software Productions
