Nemesis_007 | Temporary Invincibility
On April 22, 2002, Nemesis_007 posted to the HBO Forum:
If you are playing multiplayer (or single player I presume) and pick up an overshield,
during the time when it warps the shield up, you are apparently temporarily invincible. I
picked an over shield up and accidentally shot myself with a rocket, only to find it did
absolutely no damage. This could be useful for executing rocket jumping/grenade
jumping tricks in multi, when you want to get somewhere high without hurting yourself at
all. For instance, in Battle Creek, you could pick up the over shield, then quickly rocket
the ground underneath you, catapulting you up onto the enemy base allowing you to go
for the flag with a full shield =).

The key is to get the blast out of the way before the charge-up is complete...
(You can see the health meter, and therefore gauge the timing of the trick, only for the first example in the film. )
